The Eastern Province passports department has started operating six lanes on an experimental basis for incoming passengers on King Fahd Causeway.
Passengers will now have 24 lanes as part of the new expansion on the strategic Saudi artery with the Kingdom of Bahrain, Akhbaar24 reported.
Customs authorities have also started operating 12 passport cabins as a first step, said King Fahd Causeway General Organisation official spokesman Emad Al Mehisan.
“The second phase of the passport cabin project was launched witout any problems,” he said, expecting the new development to streamline procedures and ease the traffic flow on the causeway.
The Eastern Province passports department co-ordinated the new expansion with the King Fahd Causeway General Organisation.
