India pacer Mohammed Shami on Wednesday denied allegations of torturing his wife Hasain Jahan and having extramarital affairs.
He tweeted saying that all the news about his personal life was fake and it was big conspiracy to ruin his game.
"Hi I'm Mohammad Shami. Ye jitna bhi news hamara personal life ke bare may chal raha hai, ye sab sarasar jhut hai, ye koi bahut bada humare khilap sajish hai or ye mujhe badnam karne or mera game kharab karne ka kosis ki ja rahi hai (I deny all that is going on regarding my personal life. This is a conspiracy against me and it is being done to hamper my game)," Shami tweeted.
His wife Hasin Jahan posted screenshots of Shami's alleged WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger conversations with multiple women on her Facebook account.
She also uploaded photos and phone numbers of the women. Hasin Jahan alleged that Shami, 27, and members of his family had even tried to kill her.
"Everyone in their family used to torture me. His mother and brother used to abuse me. The tortures continued till 2-3 a.m. in the morning. They even wanted to kill me," she alleged.
"He even abused me and started beating me. All this continued after he returned from South Africa. He has been doing this for quite some time now and now I have had enough," she said.
"I gave him enough time (to rectify himself) and tried to calm myself down but instead of accepting his own mistakes, he used to vent his anger on me and even threaten me, asking to keep mum for my own goodwill," she added.
Jahan's lawyer Zakir Hussain said she was still hoping Shami would change before taking any legal action.
"She is giving it some time. So we will wait a bit before taking any legal action," Hussain told an Indian media outlet over the phone.
However, she had said that she was not going to divorce him till her last breath. She said that she had all the evidence against him and will soon drag him to court.
"I've done everything he wanted me to do. He has tortured me and hasn't treated me like his wife. He's a big flirt. I'm not going to divorce him till my last breath. I've all the evidence & will soon drag him to the court," Hasin Jahan told an Indian news agency in Kolkata on Tuesday.
“Whatever I have posted is just the tip of the iceberg. Shami’s acts are far more heinous. He has relationships with multiple women,” Jahan told the channel.
Jahan alleges that the phone was gifted to him by Delhi Daredevils in 2014. She reportedly found the phone, along with male contraceptives, in Shami's BMW car. She tried a few different combination to open the lock and got access to the alleged chats when one pattern matched.
Shami is currently playing in the Deodhar Trophy for India A. The 27-year-old was a vital cog in India's historic victory in Johannesburg, returning with a five-wicket haul
