His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, met International Organisation for Migration (IOM) director general William Lacy Swing at Gudaibiya Palace.

He emphasised that Bahrain continues to strengthen co-operation with a range of UN bodies, including the IOM.

The Crown Prince noted that the modernisation of Bahrain’s legislative and legal systems has made an important contribution to its sustainable development.

He praised the IOM’s efforts to prevent exploitation and people trafficking, and protect displaced persons and migrants fleeing conflict.

The Crown Prince highlighted that Bahrain has successfully implemented a comprehensive programme of legislation designed to safeguard the rights of the kingdom’s expatriate population.
