Apparently if you are a sensitive soul who takes easy offence to anything some nasty man says, then you can start a process to have the offending language removed from use.
Fragile young things at university in the United States are systematically having the word ‘man’ removed from their everyday use. ‘Mankind’ will now simply be known as ‘kind’, woman will be known as ‘wo’ and man will be removed from his useless pointless existence altogether.
Yes that is where I think the newly empowered females of the species would like us to end up. All men abolished with a bank of genetic material left over to propagate the species, which of course will be all female with the sex decided at the conception stage.
Is this really where we are heading? No of course not, but if we continue to give the shouty people space in the media to scream their one-sided views at us then it certainly seems like it. Once upon a time television and print media had what were called unbiased reporters. They would print a story from a neutral viewpoint and if they had to refer to the views of one side then they would also present the views from the opposing side so that the reader/viewer had the facts to make up their own mind.
Nowadays we have a generally biased media which unapologetically only presents articles and opinions which coincide with their owners. If like the BBC the owner has no real voice in editorial decisions then they are at the mercy of their management who in general consist of the champagne socialists of the Kensington set. This surly lot consider themselves to be more highly educated than the rest of us and therefore entitled to impose their dodgy thoughts upon us. This is how we end up with discrimination having switched 180° and the people now being discriminated against are straight white men.
Recently the official opposition party in the UK, Labour, hosted a conference at which they were quite open that straight white men were not welcome.
I will quite happily admit that the treatment of women down the ages has not been equal and that at 50 per cent of the population they deserve to be better represented in government and other important organisations. However, it is the other communities that are jumping on the bandwagon of female equality that I have some reservations about. While I personally have no issue with how other people want to live their lives, the LBGT communities make a lot more noise than the size of the community they represent.
In the media they are hugely represented. In entertainment they are hugely represented. In government they are hugely represented. As a community they are a lot more committed to actively fighting for their rights than the overwhelming non-LBGT majority. This means their voice is a lot louder and therefore they tend to steamroller legislation for which the overwhelming majority are either not in full agreement with or more importantly, much more importantly, government spends too much time debating their issues than they deserve, and therefore has less time to debate more important issues such as education and health.
If you were to run an analysis of how much time western governments have spent on LBGT issues over the last five years, I think you will find that it is way over their percentage of the population. I think it might be time for the straight white man to state his case.
