Manama lost to Al Zawra of Iraq 3-1 in their Group ‘B’ third round match of the AFC Cup competition played last night at Bahrain National Stadium in Isa Town.
With the second consecutive defeat Manama’s hopes of qualifying for the second round have vanished. They are languishing at the bottom of the group with one point while Al Zawra have increased their points to five and are in second spot.
In last night’s match, Manama opened scoring just 30 seconds after the start through Mahmood Abdulrahman.
The Iraqi team equalised in the 15th minute through Mohannad Abdulkareem as the first half ended 1-1.
Haydar Abdulamir gave Al Zawra the lead in the 66th minute and Amjad Khalaf netted in the 79th minute to extend it.
