A FORMER Bahrain resident visiting the kingdom was killed in a horrific road accident on a major highway early today.

Mother-of-three Camille Jones was killed instantly when she was hit by a car on Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway heading towards Hamad Town, near Bilad Al Qadeem at around 6.30am.

The 43-year-old Canadian national had taken a ride with a Bahraini woman after her rental car stalled on the highway.

However, after travelling a few metres, she realised she had forgotten something in her car.

She got down and was walking towards her rental when she was knocked down by an Egyptian man, living in Saudi Arabia, who was also driving a rental car.

Ms Jones, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, worked as fashion editor and sales manager at community newspaper Gulf Weekly from March 2013 to July 2016.

“We’re absolutely devastated,” Gulf Weekly editor Stan Szecowka told the GDN.

“She was a wonderful person, a wonderful mother and a wonderful colleague,” he said.

He also described the ex-couple as “lovely parents” to their children.

Ms Jones moved to Guelph, Ontario where she was working as media account executive and INSTYLE fashion writer at Guelph Mercury Tribune, from February 2017.

Ms Jones, who was divorced, had two sons from the second marriage and a third child from a previous marriage.
