LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi qualified for the second qualifier against Karachi Kings after defeating Quetta Gladiators by one run in a nail-biting thriller at the Gaddafi Stadium here last night.

In a dramatic turn of event, Quetta’s fast bowler Anwar Ali smashed three sixes and one boundary to alter the 158-run chase to three runs off one ball with only one wicket remaining, but the run-out on the last delivery of Mir Hamza knocked out Quetta from the tournament.

Earlier, a gutsy 62 off 35 balls by Liam Dawson lifted Peshawar to a competitive total of 157.

Hasan Ali was awarded Man of the Match award.

Quetta suffered series of a setback in their chase of 158 as Umaid Asif removed both Mahmudullah and Rilee Rossouw in one over.

BRIEF SCORES: Peshawar Zalmi 157 (Dawson 62, Rahat 4-16) beat Quetta Gladiators 156 for 9 (Hasan 2-21, Sameen 2-21) by 1 run.
