THE Indian School were crowned overall champions of the Fifth School Mini Olympics on the concluding day yesterday.
The Indian School won 53 medals (18 gold, 17 silver 18 bronze) while St Christopher’s School were seonc with 45 medals (17, 16, 12) and Al Noor International School third with 35 medals (17, 8, 10).
The Mini Olympics was organised for the fifth successive year by the Bahrain Olympic Committee in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
On the concluding day yesterday, St Chris Lightening captured the gold medal in the three-team hockey championship for under-11 players. They scored a 4-0 win over St Chris Leaves with goals from Yasmin, Emily, Noha and Isabel. Shaikha Hessa School was the other school taking part in the event.
In athletics, St Christopher’s School students were again in top form capturing nine medals, three gold, four silver and two bronze in the secondary stage and seven medals (three gold, three silver and one bronze) in the intermediate stage.
Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar said the fifth edition of the School Mini Olympics was by far the most successful as various records were broken.
