A selection of patriotic and Arabic songs were performed during the Jerusalem Arabic Music Ensemble as part of the Spring of Culture festival last night. The concert, which took place at the Cultural Hall, also included instrumentals epitomising Arab culture. The ensemble, which consists of students and teachers from the Oriental Music Department, was established by the National Institute of Music to mark the proclamation of Jerusalem as the 2009 Capital of Arab Culture. The festival, which is in its 13th edition, will run until April 30, and is being organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, the Economic Development Board and the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research.
