We are fortunate to live in what is by and large a free and tolerant society. We are free to develop differing opinions on a whole range of subjects. This allows us to have an exchange of views with others and as long as we steer clear of sensitive and cultural subjects we can have thought-provoking conversation.
What we eat is deemed to be a fit and proper subject for discussion, and in particular whether we eat meat or not. I do eat meat and I have no problem with those that do not. Some of my best friends are vegetarian, and when I invite them for dinner I am happy to prepare a separate menu for them. What my veggie friends do not do is try to ram their views down my throat or accuse me of murder. My friends are not Veganazis.
Here is the description of a Veganazi from the urban dictionary:
A self-righteous vegan who pushes his or her views on to others and will use violence, lies, misinformation and other unethical methods to promote their views.
Any member of PETA.
These rather nasty members of society are suddenly popping up all over the media, shouting down anyone who dares to have a differing opinion. How dare they!
We as a tolerant society need to nip this rather fetid and disgusting behaviour in the bud before other extremist groups decide to follow suit. Yes, I do describe these militant vegans as extremist. There are plenty of vegans who are content to eat their plants and let everybody else get on with juicy steaks without raising a murmur, but they are being tainted by the brush that is the Veganazi.
I don’t want to get into the whole debate about eating meat. Suffice to say that we did not evolve incisors to chomp into kale, and it’s highly unlikely that we would have developed the brain quite so much if we had all been Giant Pandas living off innutritious bamboo. If a section of society wants to reverse evolution and head back into the trees then that’s fine with me but do not try to take me with you.
The typical Veganazi will be white middle class and privileged which is why they have time to be ranting on. If they were anything else then they would be spending their energy working to provide a roof over their heads and generally have to eat what they can afford, meat or not. They singularly fail to comprehend the most basic fact of life. Humans are more important than animals. That’s why we have human rights. They should go and use up all that pent up rage and indignation trying to persuade Americans to give up guns, or arms manufacturers to stop making landmines.
Why don’t they go and volunteer to teach children in underdeveloped nations or build schools and hospitals. So Veganazi, go and use your energy where it will do good and stop being total pratts, which of course is what everybody thinks of you.
