MEMBERS of Bahrain national bowling team received a hero’s welcome yesterday on return from Muscat after winning seven medals at the Arab Men’s and Fourth Arab Women’s Bowling Championships at Al Seeb Bowling Centre.
It included two gold, one silver and four bronze in the week-long competition.
Ahead of the championships, the Bahrain women were the overwhelming favourites and they did not disappoint.
Bahrain’s Noora Sultan claimed the gold while her teammate Nadia Al Awadhi, a former Arab and GCC gold-medallist, had to be content with a bronze after she was beaten to the silver by Egypt’s Sara Gamal.
Flying
Yousif Falah kept the Bahrain flag flying high claiming the gold in the men’s singles competition. Egypt’s Ayman Hashim and Ahmed Gamal picked the silver and bronze respectively.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar congratulated the team members.
Bahrain Bowling Association president Ahmed Al Nuaimi and other board members and BOC sports affairs executive director Abduljalil Asad and BOC media and public relations director Mohammed Lori were present on the occasion.
