BAHRAIN’S Abdi Ibrahim Abdo and Dalila Abdulkadir clinched their respective silver medals in this year’s Rome Marathon in Italy.
Abdo finished as the runner-up in the men’s race while Dalila came second place in the women’s event.
Both Bahrainis had twice the reason to celebrate as they each posted new personal bests en route to taking their final classifications.
In the men’s event, Abdo set his new top mark at two hours eight minutes 32 seconds – improving on his previous best time by nearly four minutes.
Abdo finished the Rome marathon behind Kenyan winner Cosmas Birech, who came home in 2:08:03, while his countryman Paul Kangogo completed the podium placers in 2:09:20.
In the women’s event, Rahma Tusa of Ethiopia was the victor. She finished ahead of Bahrain’s Dalila, who completed the race distance in her new top time of 2:26:46. Alice Kibor of Kenya came third in 2:28:19.
