BRITISH Club ‘A’ were crowned champions of this year’s DHL Bahrain Expatriates Netball League.
They clinched the title following a hard-fought 19-15 victory over arch rivals BMMI Dilmun Club ‘A’ in a one-off, winner-take-all contest.
Centre Charlotte Collinsonn was named the Player-of-the-match for the victors while her counterpart Rama Salim was the top performer for BMMI.
The result earned British Club ‘A’ the full five points as they went to 22 overall in the final standings.
Dilmun ‘A’ had to settle for third place with 19 points as Bahrain Rugby Football Club (BRFC) ‘A’ were the runners-up with 20 points.
The rest of the champions team included goal shooter Shannon Barrows, goal attack Claire van Minnen, wing attack Kim Chadwick, wing defence Hayley Lowry, goal defence Martine Timmer-Arends, goalkeeper Merelda Verster and Jess Chapman.
All three teams made up the squads in Division One.
British Club had twice the reason to celebrate after their ‘B’ team clinched the title in Division Two. British Club ‘B’ had 20 points in the final classification, well ahead of the rest of their group.
Second
Sri Lanka Club were second with 13 points while BRFC ‘C’ third with just four points.
In Division Three, BRFC ‘B’ were the winners. They too finished with 20 points. British Club ‘C’ were second on 11 points while Dilmun ’B’ third with eight points.
Meanwhile, BRFC ‘A’ emerged winners of the DHL Cup, which was a one-day tournament for all the teams in the leagues.
British Club ‘A’ had to settle for second place in the Cup.
The Plate winners were Dilmun All Sorts while the runners-up were Sri Lanka Club. BRFC ‘C’ won the Bowl, ahead of the British Club All Sorts.
BRFC ‘B’ went home as winners of the Saucer.
With the league and cup competitions complete, players and officials are set to hold an end-of-season ball tomorrow night at the Movenpick Hotel in Muharraq.
The winners of each division will be honoured at the event.
