Texas – Former US first lady Barbara Bush has passed away at 92-years-old. She was the only woman with a husband and a son both sworn in as US presidents.
Bush was the wife of the 41st president, George H.W. Bush, and mother of the 43rd, George W. Bush.
The former first lady was in failing health, but decided to stop seeking medical treatment and focus on “comfort care”. She has been reportedly battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and congestive heart problems in recent years.
She is remembered for championing literacy during her term as first lady, gaining popularity for her neutral public position on social issues. She is also remembered for her fierce protectiveness of her family.
