A 17-year-old Kuwaiti boy committed suicide at his home in Sabah Al Nasser – when his parents were abroad, according to Al Rai newspaper.
A member of the family discovered the teenager hanging from the ceiling with a head scarf (ghoutra) around his neck and reported it to the police.
The boy, who was an outstanding student at school, reportedly spent three days alone in a dark room before committing suicide.
The public prosecution and detectives have launched an inquiriy into the reasons which might have pushed him to commit suicide. The corpse was transferred for a post mortem as part of the investigation.
His family said that he was “under psychological pressure with the end of year exams fast approaching”.
Meanwhile, a source from the Criminal Investigation Unit, who saw the teenager’s phone content, denied he committed suicide to the “Blue Whale Challenge” as he has never played the game.
