Muscat: The number of Omani citizens who benefit from the national programme for subsidising fuel sales has exceeded 200,000 people.
According to latest statistics, 239,017 citizens have so far registered ever since the national fuel subsidy scheme was launched last January.
The Omani authorities have surveyed 376,000 citizens who are eligible to register and benefit from subsidised oil prices.
The North Al-Batinah governorate has the highest number of registered citizens (34.33% of the overall registered beneficiaries), followed by the Southern with 28.42%.
