RITA’S Boy and Navarone were the biggest winners at yesterday’s horse racing at Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club in Sakhir.
Both scored upset victories over the favourites.
Rita’s Boy, owned by Green Stable, trained by Osama Hashim and ridden by Abdulla Al Hawaj, stunned Raawy by one-and-three-fourth-length to win the Porsche Cup (Gold) carrying a cash prize of BD2,000.
Taffe was third and Showdaisy fourth.
Navarone, owned by Shaikh Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa, trained by Yousif Alboainain and ridden by Adnan Jaffar, was equally impressive in upstaging the favourite Fencing by a length to win the Bahrain Jewellery Centre Cup for imported horses carrying a cash prize of BD2,000.
Sir Viktor was third and Prince Bonnaire fourth.
Favourites
Riyada, owned by Al Awlad Syndicate, trained by James Naylor and ridden by Jimmy Quinn, led the way for the favourites, beating Rayaash by five lengths to win the Bahrain Jewellery Centre Cup for locally bred horses carrying a cash prize of BD2,000.
Malak Kloof was third.
Daleel, owned by Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, trained by James Naylor and ridden by Jimmy Quinn, followed suit beating Cutlass by six lengths to win the Porsche Cup (Bronze) carrying a cash prize of BD2,000.
Cher Ami was third and Emoji fourth.
Kuheilaan Aafas 1695, owned by Al Wasmiya, trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti and ridden by Jimmy Quinn, completed a hat-trick for the favourites, beating Krayaan 1706, by half-a-length to win the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club Cup for Arabian horses carrying a cash prize of BD2,000.
Al Jellaby 1661 was third and Al Hamdany 1697 fourth.
Milyar, owned by Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, trained by James Naylor and ridden by Jimmy Quinn, was another favourite to oblige, beating News Breaker by a nose to win the Porsche Cup (Silver) carrying a cash prize of BD2,000.
Khamila was third and Lazaal fourth.
Bermondsey, owned by Shaikh Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa, trained by Sami Saloom and ridden by Richard Mullen, beat Whistle Stop by a length to win the Bahrain Jewellery Centre Cup carrying a cash prize of BD2,000.
Zymyran was third and Cartago fourth.
