AS expected, News Breaker won the richest prize of the day at yesterday’s horse racing at Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club in Sakhir.
The favourite, owned by Victorious, trained by Alan Smith and ridden by A Rahim Jasim, beat Harash by a length to win the Owners Cup for locally bred horses carrying a cash prize of BD4,300.
Call A Friend finished third.
Another favourite King Bolete, owned by Victorious, trained by Alan Smith and riden by Abdulla Faisal, followed suit beating Zymyran by a length to win the Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa Cup for imported horses carrying a cash prize of BD3,000.
Whistle Stop was third and Fadhaa fourth.
The day, however, did not begin well for the favouties as Mohaayedah, owned by Desert Stable, trained by Yousif Taher and ridden by Richard Mullen, scored a stunning victory over Nardeen by a neck to win the Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla Al Khalifa Cup carrying a cash prize of BD2,000.
Favourite Magsood had to be content with third place while Stevie G finished fourth.
Impressive Day, owned by Ali Ahmed Al Anzoor, trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti and ridden by Abdulla Faisal, beat Inclination by one-and-half-a-length to win the Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa Cup for imported horses carrying a cash prize of BD2,000.
Sahara was third and Mayalee fourth.
Kuheilan Aafas 1640, owned by Safra, trained by Alan Smith and ridden by Andrew Elliott, beat Kuheilan Aafas 1675 by two-and-half-a-length to lift the Al Roudha Cup for Arabian horses carrying a cash prize of BD2,500.
Al Jellaby 1544 was third and Al Jellaby 1434 fourth.
The only other upset of the day was caused by Raj To Riches, owned by S Jaafar Al Alawi and trained by Hussain Aldailami, when it beat Allergic Reaction to claim the Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa Cup carrying a cash prize of BD3,000.
Emerald was third and the favourite American Artist had to settle for fourth place.
Bazaruto, owned by Ali Nabeel Abdulla Dabulla, trained by Ali Jan and ridden by Gerald Avranche, beat Curtain Call by one-and-half-a-length to win the Zaid bin Theeb Al Kubara Group Industry and Trade Cup for imported horses carrying a cash prize of BD3,000.
Legendary Lunch was third and Prince Bonnaire fourth.
