MANAMA: Bahraini music sensation Faisal Al Ansari returned to Bahrain last night after being eliminated from MBC’s popular talent show The Voice Ahla Sowt.
He was welcomed with flowers and roses by screaming fans waiting for him at Bahrain International Airport.
"I want to thank everyone who supported and backed me to achieve success at the show," he said on arrival.
"I will continue in the career I have now chosen and through people's love and admiration my ship will still sail."
The GDN reported yesterday that a council chairman says he has been inundated with calls from people asking for personal favours – after they voted for his namesake on a TV talent contest wrongly thinking it was his brother.
Southern Municipal Council chairman Ahmed Al Ansari told the GDN he got so many calls he switched off his phone.
He said callers told him they voted for Faisal believing he was related to the councillor because they look alike and have the same family name.
“Faisal is not my brother, although we have the same physical features, and I wish him luck in his future endeavours as a professional singer,” said the council chairman.
“I got a lot of calls demanding personal favours from people claiming they voted for Faisal.
“I got receipts (for votes) or screenshots on my WhatsApp to validate that.
“Unfortunately, I can’t help people break the law or do things that are wrong.”
Thirty-two-year-old Faisal had impressed fans of the MBC show and started singing when he was four years old.
The musician also plays piano, guitar and qanun.
