The authorities in Kuwait have withdrawn the imports of lettuce and eggs from the US over salmonella fears, Al Qabas reported.
The Kuwait Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) based the ban on reports issued by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
PAFN deputy director-general for control and investigation Dr Amal Al Rashdan issued a circular addressed to all governorates.
The PAFN have also withdrawn millet-stuffed vine leaves from Saudi Arabia and Jordan for containing high-levels of carbendazim and Egyptian strawberries over fears that they are contaminated with Hepatitis A.
The Kuwaiti authorities have also withdrawn a type of cheese imported from Germany, based on a correspondence from the Foreign Ministry which reported metal wires in the German product.
