The authorities in Oman have banned any kind of firing at national, social or religions occasions or events – based on judicial circular No. 22/2015.
The Public Prosecution urged citizens and residents to abide by provisions of the Arms and Ammunition Law, ONA reported.
It warned of legal measures against those who call for, promote, instigate or assist in tribal meetings or gatherings via whatever means of social media, or any other means that is beyond the limits of the law.
“It has been noted that the firing of non-distress shots is still ongoing in some governorates of the country, whether during national, social or religious occasions,” it said in a statement.
It cautioned that such illegal acts could endanger the safety of individuals and public property.
