Muscat – Turbulent weather conditions and sandstorms, currently hitting GCC countries, have spread to Oman.
The Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) warned of strong gusts of wind and rising dust, sharply lowering visibility.
“Active southern winds are currently blowing in the governorates of Muscat, Buraimi, North Al Sharqiyah, North and South Batinah, causing dust," the authority's meteorology department announced, noting that "horizontal visibility will be poor during blowing dust".
The weather forecast today predicts mainly clear skies over most of Oman with chances of blowing dust over north Al Batinah governorate due to the fresh wind. "Late night to early morning there is a chance of low-level clouds formation along parts of Arabian Sea coasts," PACA said in its report for today.
