CAIRO: Palestinian deaths associated with the US moving its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem should be a warning to others considering a similar move, the head of the Arab League said yesterday.
The Arab League will hold an extraordinary meeting to discuss the “illegal” embassy move, Egypt’s news agency Mena reported, citing an Arab diplomat.
“The fall of Palestinian martyrs by the bullets of the Israeli occupation must ring an alarm bell to any state that does not find anything wrong with the immoral and illegal stance that we are watching,” Arab League chief Ahmed Aboul Gheit said.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ gunfire against unarmed Palestinian civilians.
A foreign ministry spokesperson called on the international community to “take responsibility and put an end to the violence against the Palestinians”, noting Riyadh’s support for the “rights of the Palestinian people”.
Kuwait requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council today.
“We condemned what has happened,” the Kuwaiti ambassador to the UN, Mansour Al Otaibi, said.
