Teenager jailed for sheltering wanted terrorist
A BAHRAINI teenager has been jailed for five years for sheltering a wanted terrorist on the rooftop of his parent’s home.
The 18-year-old Bahraini harboured the fugitive convicted of terrorism-related charges at the home in Tubli for five months.
The defendant was sentenced by the High Criminal Court yesterday to five years behind bars in connection with rioting and sheltering a wanted fugitive.
The court also jailed the fugitive for five years for aiding and abetting a crime.
A third man was sentenced to three years behind bars in connection with an arson attack in the same case.
A lieutenant described how information provided by confidential sources helped him in arresting the terrorist.
“We monitored him (the defendant) after receiving information about him harbouring the wanted terrorists,” the 32-year-old Bahraini lieutenant told prosecutors.
“After two weeks of investigations, we found the wanted fugitives at the defendant’s home in Tubli in July 2016.
“The defendants took part in an arson attack near the home in Tubli.”
The defendant told prosecutors that he regretted what he had done.
