A light ammunition factory opened its doors in Oman's Wilayat of Sumail in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate, according to Oman Observer.
The Oman Munition Production Company (OMPC) celebrated the inauguration of the plant, under the patronage of Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harib Al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs.
The project is one of the schemes that aim at meeting the needs of the Oman Armed Forces and other military and security systems at the Sultanate for light munitions.
OMPC has been established under a direct investment pumped by the military and security apparatus' pension funds.
The foundation stone of the factory, which is the first of its kind in Oman, was laid on March 26, 2015. The initial production started at the end of 2016.
