Three women were among seven people arrested for having ties with foreign entities and perpetrating hostile acts against the Saudi state, SPA reported.
Those arrested are Ibrahim Abdulrahman Al Medimagh, Mohammed Fahd Al Rabea, Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Meshal, Lujain Hadhloul, Aziza Mohammed Al Youssef and Eman Fahd Al Nafjan.
The name of the seventh suspect has not been announced pending investigation into the activities and extent of the network.
“The authorities detected co-ordinated activities by a group of people, who carried out an organised work to violate the religious and national principles of Saudi Arabia,” said the Presidency of State Security.
The accused, who had ties with foreign bodies to support their activities, sought to recruit persons working in sensitive government posts and provide financial support to hostile elements abroad with the objective of undermining the kingdom’s security and stability, its social peace and national cohesion.
An inquiry was launched into the group’s influence and uncover other connections with their hostile activities. The authorities announced that all legal measures were taken against members of the network.
