Victorious downed VIVA Youth Centers 3-1 late last night to qualify for the quarter-final of Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Football Tournament (Nasser 11) at Khalifa Sports City Stadium.
Victorious team now have seven points from two victories and one draw, while VIVA Youth Centers remained with three points and lost the chance of qualifying from the group.
Mohammed Najeeb scored twice in the 40th and 46th minutes along with a goal from Jasser Hamed in the 82nd minute for the winners. Mohammed Abdulwahab scored in the 32nd minute for VIVA Youth Centers.
Najeeb won the man of the match award.
On early morning Sunday, Al Fakhar inflicted a second defeat on Majestic in Group 4 to end their qualification hopes.
Saeed Hassan starred as Al Fakhar rallied from a goal down to seal a deserving 4-2 victory.
Majestic took the lead in the 41st through Hussain Al Hadar, who converted from the penalty spot.
Hassan levelled just two minutes later and then put his team ahead in the 57th minute.
Ibrahim Ali extended the lead in the 64th minute before Saood Isa reduced the gap with only six minutes remaining in the match.
Against the flow to play, Mosleh Ahmed scored an own goal in stoppage time to end matters.
“It wasn’t an easy game. We were made to sweat in this match. Majestic were a tough opponent and they were fighting for their lives. We are happy with the important three points,” Al Fakhar director Abdulameer Abdullah said.
