League champions Muharraq and King’s Cup champions Al Najma tumbled in the semi-final of the Elite Football Cup Tournament last night at different venues.
Muharraq lost to Al Hidd 2-0 at Bahrain National Stadium, while Al Najma bowed to Malkiya with the same score at Al Ahli Club Stadium.
Malkiya and Al Hidd will play in the final next Thursday at 10pm. The venue will be announced later.
Muharraq qualified for the semi-final round as Group ‘A’ runners-up, while Al Hidd barged into the round as Group ‘B’ winners.
Muharraq dominated the game from the beginning, and had a number of chances to score but Al Hidd defenders were in top form along with their goalkeeper Abbas Ahmed.
Mohammed Al Tayyeb scored for Al Hidd in the 69th minute and Ahmed Al Kattal added another in the 86th minute.
Malkiya qualified for the semis as Group ‘A’ winners, while Al Najma advanced in the round of four as Group ‘B’ runners-up.
The first half of the game ended 0-0, before Hashim Al Sayed Isa opened the scoring for Malkiya in the 49th minute.
Malkiya scored the second goal in the 90th minute through Sayed Ahmed Hashim.
