TONY Balabbo scored the daily high series late on Tuesday night as qualifying continued in The Godfathers Bowling Tournament at Funland Centre.
Balabbo posted a total of 718 pins to raise his average to 239.8. He now boasts an overall aggregate of 2,158 from his three best series so far.
His latest outing was his second-best score in qualifying, with the others being 731 and 709. Balabbo stayed in third place in Group ‘A’.
Emerson Gotencio retains the lead with a 248.6 average and 2,237 total (758, 749, 730), while in second position just a pin ahead of Balabbo was Yousif Al Dolijan with a 239.9 average.
Shaker Daraj continued his fine form as he scored the division’s high series for the third day in a row of 664, whereas Siddiq Siddiq had the best outing in Group ‘C’ after playing a total of 676.
Improved
Daraj’s high series helped him climb to the top of his group’s qualifying table as he improved his average to 228.9 with a 2,060 total. His two other best series so far are 720 and 676.
Daraj displaced Isa Khalid in first place. Khalid dropped to second with 227.6 and 2,048 (707, 680, 661) while Ali Abdulla was third with a 220.2 average and a 1,982 aggregate score (692, 661, 629).
In Group ‘C’, Siddiq’s high series of 676 was his best outing so far, and he improved to a 218.6 average to remain in first place. Siddiq’s other two series included counts of 648 and 643 to bring his overall total from his three best to 1,967.
Sami Saloom was second with a 210.6 average and 1,895 total (642, 628, 625) while Mohammed Al Ali was third with 197.2 and 1,775 (646, 571, 558).
The tournament is being held in honour of the late Murtadha Qudrat Rasti and the late Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
The qualification round continues till June 9.
A total prize purse of $4,500 is up for grabs in the tournament with $3,200 going to the champion.
