BAHRAIN take on Iraq tonight at 11pm in their opening assignment of the first-ever Bahrain International Basketball Championship at Zain Basketball Arena in Um Al Hassam. Egypt and Lebanon face off in the evening’s other contest at 9pm.

The four-nation competition is being held as per the directives of Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) president Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, who aims to raise the standards of the national team by playing high-ranking squads from across the globe.

The Bahrainis are also using this event as part of their preparations for their upcoming games in the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Pre-Qualifiers to be held next month in Dubai.

National team head coach Salman Ramadhan said their goal heading into this competition is to gain experience and develop chemistry.

Tomorrow, Bahrain take on Egypt at 9pm while the Lebanese and Iraqis face off in the second match. Following a rest day on Saturday, games resume on Sunday starting at 9pm with Iraq taking on Egypt followed by the match between Lebanon and Bahrain.
