THE 2018 future programmes of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) were approved at its Annual Ordinary General Assembly.
Some of the most anticipated events on the BOC calendar are the Olympic Day (June 22), the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta (August 18-September 2) and the First International Physical Literacy Conference (September 9-11).
Other events confirmed are the Second Youth Olympic Games in Argentina (October 6-18), Olympic Council of Asia General Assembly (August 18), Union of Arab National Olympic Committees Conference (November 28-29) and Olympic Park launch (December 2).
The General Assembly was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Manama.
The end-of-the-year financial statements and the auditor’s report for 2017, the proposed budget for 2018 and the signing of a new external auditing company were also approved.
Proposals
The General Assembly also held talks on proposals presented by the Bahrain Handball Association and the Bahrain Cycling Association.
The handball association proposed a standard third colour besides red and white for national teams outfits.
The volleyball association requested a dedicated racing track, continuing the talents identification programme, hosting an international race and submitting a recommendation to the Ministry of Youth and Sports to raise clubs financial allocations.
Present at the meeting were Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar and representatives of 28 national sports federations, Popular Heritage Committee and other BOC officials.
