ALBA Red scored a brilliant double claiming both the under-12 and under-14 titles in the Alba-CBA Invitation Cricket Tournament.
Alba Red beat Pakistan Urdu School to claim the under-14 Alba Cup 2018.
Batted first, Pakistan made a reasonable 83 for the loss of seven wickets in their 10 overs. Captain and opening batsman Adeel Asif top scored with a polished 29 while off spinner Ananth Krishnan claimed three wickets for nine runs, including a hat trick.
He was well supported by captain Rishab Ramesh who bagged three wickets for just 13 runs.
In reply, Alba Red reached the target in 9.4overs. Ramesh and Ananth Krishnan gave a good start scoring 29 and 30 runs respectively.
Later, Aryan Koul made an unbeaten 10 to lead Alba Red to a deserving victory. Aasif claimed both the wickets to fall conceding 16 runs.
In the under-12 final, Alba Red beat Youth Cricket Academy by eight runs.
Batted first, Alba Red reached 72 for the loss of eight wickets in their 10 overs after a poor start, losing three wickets with just 13 runs on the board.
But Raj Vishal and Jugal Jigar took the score to 40 and later Sarvesh Nirmal (9) showed enough patience to take the total to 72.
In reply, Youth Cricket Academy were restricted to 64 for eight.
Aum Pregnesh was the most successful bowler for Alba Red (3-5) while Arnav Nair claimed two wickets for seven runs.
Captain Abhinav Vashist top scored for Youth Cricket Academy with a fine 27.
In the under-12 loser’s final, Alba Blue beat Cric Bahrain Academy by 10 wickets to finish third and in the under 14 category, Pakistan School beat Youth Cricket Academy by four wickets.
Cricket Bahrain Association president Saleem Elias, Gopi Talreja, manager, engineering, at Alba, officials from sponsors LIC International and tournament director Prachur Shukla presented the trophies and individual awards.
