Distribution of ready homes at the Khalifa Town is underway, the Housing Ministry said yesterday.
The move follows orders by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, to distribute 5,000 units during Ramadan.
Under-Secretary Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa stressed that the township is one of the strategic projects being carried out by the ministry within the 25,000-unit programme included in the Government Action Plan.
The town, once completed, will accommodate 54,000 people within its 6,000 housing units, he said.
Four hundred units have already being completed, and work is in full swing to start the next
phase of the project.
Shaikh Abdulla highlighted the government’s support for the ministry’s efforts to achieve the royal directives aimed at ensuring the stability of Bahraini families through harnessing all its potential to provide them with the requirements of decent and stable life.
He congratulated the beneficiaries of housing units and pledged the ministry’s keenness to implement the Crown Prince’s order as soon as possible.
