Jeddah – Saudi Arabia is reportedly seeking to purchase the rights to broadcast 22 World Cup matches.
The General Sports Authority is conducting direct negotiations with world football governing body (FIFA) in a bid to seal an agreement ahead of the world cup 2018, which will kick-off on Thursday (June 14).
Saudi Arabia will take on the host country, Russia, in the opening match in Moscow, as part of Group A, which includes also Egypt and Uruguay.
Qatari-based bein sports have not been authorised to broadcast the World Cup matches in Saudi Arabia.
Official sources revealed that Monday (June 11) would be crucial for the Saudi authorities to reach a deal with the FIFA.
