Two stunt drivers who caused the death of a pedestrian in Al Ain have been sentenced to one year in jail each, Al Bayan reported.

A UAE Traffic Court fined them each AED20,000 and ordered them to pay a combined AED200,000 in blood money to the victim’s family.

One of the two convicts was fiined an additional AED20,000 for attempting to evade police after running over the young pedestrian.

The court confiscated the two cars involved in the incident and revoked the driving licences of the convicts, who will also pay the required fees.

A video recording released by the police showed one of the cars as it hit the central reservation and veered off, killing the 19-year-old Arab national on June 2.
