The overall number of lawsuits filed against the Ministry of Health over medical blunders rose to 152 in 2017.
The Ministry has so far won 30 lawsuits and lost five, while 117 other cases are still pending court verdicts, according to local media Alqabas report.
The updated statistics featured in a report submitted to the National Assembly, detailing the alarming increase in court cases over medical mistakes.
According to the report, the Ministry of Health has lost 80 lawsuits from 2010 until mid-2018. Courts ruled in favour of the ministry in 456 lawsuits while 251 others are still pending court verdicts.
The overall number of cases filed against the ministry soared to 739 in 2017, up from 387 in 2010.
