His Majesty the King’s representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has received congratulations for winning the Ripon Racecourse in London.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) secretary general Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa hailed Shaikh Nasser’s victory in one of the most prestigious horse races in the world owing to the participation of many world champions.
Shaikh Salman said this achievement embodies Shaikh Nasser’s efforts to promote equestrian and lauded His Majesty King Hamad’s constant support for the sport. He wished Shaikh Nasser further success in the future.
Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Hisham bin Mohammed Al Jowder also praised Shaikh Nasser’s strategy to develop the sport in the kingdom which has yielded distinguished achievements abroad.
Al Jowder said Shaikh Nasser’s successive achievements reflect his constant care in jockeys, trainers and horses, expressing confidence that he will attain more achievements for Bahrain.
Shaikh Nasser’s triumph came after his horse Semoum secured first place in the race, posting an incredible time of 1:11 minutes. Steering Semoum was jockey Jack Mitchell, while his trainer was George Peckham.
This was Shaikh Nasser’s third participation in the competition.
