Sharjah – A Pakistani boy drowned in the swimming pool of a residential tower in Al-Khan district in Sharjah, just a day before celebrating his eighth birthday.
The family ran to the rescue of Suhail Ahmed Nasser, who was struggling underwater and tried to revive him but that was to no avail as the child passed away as he was on the way to Al-Qasimi Hospital.
The police launched an inquiry and interrogated the parents who are suspected of negligence, which might have caused the death of the boy.
The Pakistani boy was the second child to drown in a swimming pool within two weeks. A two-year-old girl drowned in a relative's swimming pool in Al Dhaid area last week.
