Buri Club scored a hard-earned 4-3 victory over Umm Al Hassam to go top in Group 1 of the 6th Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League held on Saturday at Khalifa Sports City.
The winners were spearheaded by Mohammed Al Saba, who found the net twice, and Ahmed Al Muwali who scored the third goal and went on to win the best man of the match award.
Goalkeeper Mohammed Saleh made several heroic saves to lift Barbar Club past Al Aker Club 2-1 in Group 2.
Saleh was named the best man of the match for his performance.
Al Ma’ameer Club stunned Bani Jamra Club 5-0 in Group 1 with Mohammed Yousif contributing a hat-trick and was named the best man of the match.
In the last match of the day, Tubli Club easily beat Al Dair Club 4-1. Ali Al Maliki scored two goals for the winners and was named the best man of the match.
Northern Governorate and Municipal Council chairman Mohammed Khalifa Bu Hamood and national coach Sadiq Zuwaid were guests on Saturday. They commended the initiatives introduced by Shaikh Khalid to promote the youth and sport movements.
The league is held under the patronage of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy president, Bahrain Athletics Association president and Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities honorary president.
It is being organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Affairs in partnership with the Media Office of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, from June 24 to August 9.
It is part of Shaikh Khalid’s initiatives to support youth in sports. This year marks a wide participation of youth centres, national clubs, young women, disabled individuals, ministries and communities.
