Abu Dhabi – The UAE authorities have recalled listeria-contaminate frozen fruit and vegetables produced by Greenyard.
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment announced the precautionary measure, based on a warning issued by European Union countries.
The listeria-contaminated Greenyard frozen vegetables and fruit products have resulted in deaths as announced by the European Union and the World Health Organisation.
Results of the investigation traced the source of the disease to the frozen Greenyard fruit and vegetables.
The ministry appealed to consumers to return or discard the items on the list as they may pose "serious health hazards, especially to the elderly, pregnant women and people suffering from immune deficiency".
A notification was also issued to the local food control authorities to investigate the products on the list and ensure that UAE markets are free of the contaminated food items.
