AN 11-day celebration to mark the harvest festival of Onam will be held by the Kerala Catholic Association (KCA) next month.
The ‘KCA-BFC Onam Fest 2018’ will kick off on August 21 with a variety of events and activities and will conclude on August 31 with a grand Onam feast.
Onam is an annual festival which originates in Kerala to celebrate rich harvest and includes a number of festivities such as boat races, tiger dances, and flower arrangements, among others.
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by chief guest Cochin International Airport director V J Kurian.
Competitions will be hosted on August 22 and August 26 for KCA members, while prominent tug-of-war teams in Bahrain will gather for a tournament on August 23 followed by a drama production staged by the KCA drama team.
The KCA Ladies Wing will present a special programme titled Keralathanima on August 24, while a national Thiruvathira competition will be held on August 26 with special prizes.
A Payasam competition will take place on August 28 followed by a musical show called Swaralaya performed by the KCA Music Wing.
Cultural activities will continue until August 31, graced by prominent people from Kerala to be concluded by the Onam Feast.
