Cairo – Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi urged Egyptians to join efforts to reduce births and control the galloping demographic boom.
“Two kids are enough”, he said, adding the Egyptian state cannot prevent births but seeks to regulate demographic growth.
He was speaking during the “Ask the President” session, which was held as part of the 6th National Youth Conference at Cairo University.
“Give yourselves the chance to have a child every 3 or 4 years. Two kids are fair enough”, he said, adding that the state does want to limit birth or penalise large families.
“With a rate of birth of 2.5% and a rate of economic growth at 7.5%, Egyptians will have a better life”, he said.
President el-Sisi also made fun of the “Kiki Challenge” which is taking the world by storm.
“You are driving cars and wondering whether to Kiki or not… You do Kiki and we increase the fuel prices”, he said, addressing the audience. He addressed the Oil Minister Tariq Al-Mullah: “Increase the fuel prices without worrying”.
