Sanad Youth Center beat Muharraq Youth Center in penalty shootout to capture the Clubs Competition title as the 6th Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League came to a close yesterday.
It was a sweet revenge victory for Sanad who lost to Muharraq in last year’s final. Regulation time ended at 2-2 before Sanad prevailed with brilliant penalty kicks.
The closing ceremony was held yesterday under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy president, Bahrain Athletics Association president and Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities honorary president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa who honoured the champion teams.
Also yesterday, the Egyptian Community team claimed the Communities League crown, while the Ministry of Interior team bagged the Ministries League trophy.
Shaikh Khalid crowned Al Esrar team as the winners of the Girls League and Special Olympics team as the champions of the Disabled League.
He also took commemorative photos with the winners.
Present during the event were Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Hisham bin Mohammed Al Jowder and other senior officials.
Shaikh Khalid said the league has achieved a tremendous success.
“The noble objectives of the league are in line with HM the King’s vision which aims to upgrade the youth and sports movement and enrich it,” Shaikh Khalid said.
“The league is part of the endeavour of the government, chaired by HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, First Deputy Prime Minister, towards giving the youth the opportunity to show their talents and showcase their abilities.”
Shaikh Khalid added that the league came as part of the policies of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, presided by His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs representative, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
