NBB supports charity
Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan received NBB chief executive for retail, commercial and SMEs banking Abdulaziz Abdulla Al Ahmed, who presented a donation in support of the NBB Rehabilitation Home for Disabled Children.
An MP yesterday reiterated commitment to defend pensioners’ rights in the public and private sectors. “The legislative branch will not compromise on pension rights,” said financial and economic committee chairman Abdulrahman Bouali, stressing keenness to ensure the sustainability of the pension funds. He announced that the committee would submit proposals regarding the draft pension laws to the government, stressing the need to further discuss the issue with authorities – including subscriptions and end of service premiums.
Human rights in the spotlight
National Institution for Human Rights chairperson Maria Khoury delivered a lecture on ‘Human Rights and Sustainable Development’ at the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute headquarters. The lecture is within the fourth package of the “My Rights 2” programme, organised by the NIHR in partnership with the Supreme Council for Women, Bahrain Institute for Political Development and Judicial and Legal Studies Institute. The lecture defined the concept of sustainable development and its 17 goals, as well as the role of NIHR in following up on efforts to achieve the goals.
