Riyadh – Saudi security forces neutralised a man who was wearing what looked like an explosive vest in the governorate of Al-Bakiriyah and wounded him in an exchange of gunfire.
In a statement early on Thursday, an Interior Ministry spokesman identified the assailant as Fawaz Abdulrahman Eid Al-Harbi.
The security authorities managed to locate the assailant, who had "adopted Islamic State ideology", and cornered him at 01:30 am near the neighbourhood of A-Suq.
He was wounded in an exchange of gunfire with security forces and taken to hospital. No casualties were reported among passers-by or the policemen.
The security forces searched his car and seized an automatic machine gun, 359 live bullets and five magazines, two pistols along with magazines and 30 revolver live bullets.
