Abu Dhabi – The UAE set up a national emergency committee to provide relief assistance to people affected by flash floods in the Indian State of Kerala.
UAE President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has instructed the establishment of the panel which is chaired by the Emirates Red Crescent.
The committee, which includes representatives from the UAE-based humanitarian organisations, has been assigned dignitaries of the Indian resident community.
The south Indian state was hit by the most massive and worst floods in a century, which killed hundreds of people, displaced hundreds of thousands of local population and swept away their homes.
