Young achievers of the AMA International School Bahrain (AMAISB) have won medals and an award at international competitions.
In the Junior Global Round of the World Scholar’s Cup 2018 held from July 22 to 25 in Barcelona, Elyas Zuhair Al Qasim won four silver medals for team challenge, team debate, team bowl, and best at science and art; one gold medal for best school award and his team qualified for the Tournament of Champions at Yale University, US in November this year.
Around 2,100 scholars from 57 countries took part in the tournament in the Spanish city.
The goals of the competition were to motivate students from all backgrounds to discover new strengths and practice new skills and to inspire a global community of future scholars and leaders.
The AMAISB team won ninth place in the World Adolescent Robotics Competition 2018 (WARC) held in Guiyang, China from July 23 to 25, 2018.
The team was composed of Isa Hassan Alqassimi, Ahmed Majeed Husain, Faisal Husain Alsayegh, Goh Yiyi, Goh Yi Ken, Mohammed Isa Ebrahim and coach Francisco Reyes.
Around 400 students from 28 countries participated in the competition.
WARC is a festival for youth that showcases their talent and skills in designing and building robots.
AMAISB director Marietta S Sicat was delighted with the achievements of these students and expressed the school’s commitment to continuously provide enrolled students an avenue to participate in local, regional and international competitions.
