Nattinpuram Restaurant – a Nadan kitchen located in the Baisan International Hotel, Hoora – is all set to celebrate Onam on August 25 from 11am to 3.30pm.
It is the biggest festival in Kerala and to mark the event the restaurant invites guests and patrons to take part in the auspicious occasion.
This is the 10th consecutive year Nattinpuram Restaurant is presenting the real Onam spirit to the Malayalee community.
Onam falls during the Malayalee month of Chingam and marks the homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali.
The carnival lasts for 10 days, starting on atham (the first day of the festivities) and ending on thiruvonam (the last day of the celebrations) and brings out the best of Kerala’s culture and tradition.
Some of the most remarkable features of Onam are intricately decorated pookalam, ambrosial onasadya, the snake boat race and exotic kaikottikali dance.
Onam is also known as Vamana Jayanthi as it commemorates the Vamana avatar of Lord Vishnu and the subsequent homecoming of King Mahabali.
The festival is celebrated with much fanfare and vigour in all parts of Kerala, and Nattinpuram celebrates this great event in the same way, with décor of real banana trees, fresh flowers and cheerful festival songs.
Nattinpuram Restaurant features Onam Sadyavattam consisting of 31 traditional items. All dishes are cooked by master chefs from Kerala with ultimate care and dedication.
The exotic varieties of the day are avial, poriyal, mezhukuvaratty, kuttu curry and varieties of payasam, to name a few.
