Bahrain today announced its decision to stop issuing entry visas to Qatari citizens.
The Interior Ministry said that the announcement follows the directives of the Cabinet subsequent to the “persistence of the irresponsible Qatari authorities in their hostile policies towards Bahrain”.
However it added that Qatari students in Bahrain and visa holders will be exempted from the decision.
Collective action last June againstQatar by the Arab quartet saw land, air and sea borders closed, with the four countries also banning QatarAirways flights.
Bahrain ordered hotels and restaurants to cease broadcasts of Al Jazeera television network, withdrew Bahraini diplomats from Doha, expelled Qatari diplomats and ordered Qataris to leave the country.
The four countries presented a list of 13 demands to Doha to resolve the diplomatic crisis which included closing a Turkish military base inQatar and shutting Al Jazeera – but the demands have still not been met.
