BAHRAIN’S Abdulla Janahi continued his solid form competing in the Laser Standard fleet in sailing at the 18th Asian Games.
After yesterday’s eighth and ninth races, Janahi maintained his eighth place among 16 sailors in the fray with only three races remaining.
The veteran Bahraini sailor has a total of 58 net points so far.
Jeemin Ha of South Korea currently leads the field with 14.8 net points. He is followed by Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy of Malaysia with 15 while Jun Han Ryan Lo of Singapore is third on 17.
Water
Bahrain’s Chef de Mission at the Asian Games Bader Nasser and other officials attended yeterday’s sailing events.
Janahi gets back onto the water today for the 10th and 11th races.
In the equestrian jumping team event, Bahrain finished a respectable 14th while Saudi Arabia claimed gold, Japan silver and Qatar bronze.
In the jumping individual class, Sayed Adnan Alawi, riding Baluu, was ranked 14th in the second qualifying round among 60 riders.
Shaikh Hasan bin Rashid Al Khalifa, on AW Vivika, was 43rd, Khaled Alkhatri, on Sierra, 57th while Ahmed Maki, on Consuela van Verst, was eliminated from the round.
Meanwhile, Bahrain will today make its debut in cycling track event with Yahiaaldien Khalifa competing in the qualification round of the men’ 4,000 metres individual pursuit.
